Biographical sketch: Italian, Bachelor and Master degrees at the University of Bologna, followed by Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and post-docs at Harvard and Washington State University.  Lectured at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and  professor at the University Zurich since 2000, where she became the director of the Institute of Systematic Botany and Botanic Garden in 2010

Biographical sketch: USA, studied molecular evolution and systematics at University of Michigan, did post docs at Dalhousie University and Institute of Marine Biosciences in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lecturer and then professor at University of York in the UK and since 2007 professor and head of the systematic biology program at Uppsala University in Sweden

Biographical sketch: New Zealander, studied taxonomy and systematics at University of Auckland, did post docs at the American Museum of Natural History, New York, and the Natural History Museum, London, before lecturing at Oxford University and University of Glasgow. Author of software such as TreeView, now writes regularly at http://iphylo.blogspot.com
